I'll keep this short and sweet. If you're a golfer, then this resort would be very good for you as the gold package is great - even for an exchanger.

The units are roomy, but the building and interiors of the units are a little worn. The outside of the building could certainly benefit from a paint job and a touch up. The pool is heated and there is a hot tub, but the hot tub is quite small. The interior of our unit could've used a paint job and some caulking work in the bathrooms. The bathrooms were a little worn with very old showerheads. The jacuzzi's in each room were in good shape and were fun to use.

The location in Sea Pines is good - it's very close to the lighthouse and the harbor. However, the view of the harbor and lighthouse is blocked by another building in front of it.

Overall, here's how I would rate it.

Golf Package: 10
Other activities: 5
Location: 8
Room: 7.5

Overall, I would give it a weak 8 as I've stayed at other Marriott's which are certainly much more luxurious.

We were fortunate to snag a week at Marriott's Heritage Club in Hilton Head this past week.

After never visiting Hilton Head in the past, we were looking forward to a beach/golf vacation.

We checked in with ease, no wait, no lines. The only disappointment was that there was no one on property to assist you during certain times of the day. The Lobby (concierge) was not available on Sunday and after 5pm they were not available. They mentioned you could contact the welcome center for assistance but they were always busy when we called. If you have questions make sure you make a list, and when you get someone to help, ask.

When they were around, the concierge staff was extremely helpful.

The units were older yet comfortable. The Palmetto bugs are a problem. There were some minor issues with our unit, I called maintenance and never heard back from them. The issues didn't hamper our stay, just things you wouldn't expect. We received many calls from MVCI to "see how things were going", i.e., to set up a time to tour Barony and the new development in Myrtle Beach. We honestly did not have time. We felt we could have used two weeks there, there is so much to do and see, the location was perfect. We golfed 5 days the golf package is tremendous. I was informed that the Harbortown links charges $250 a round, not worth it from my perspective. With the Heritage usage you are entitled to (2) rounds of golf per day, (14) two of which is at Harbortown links, the other courses are the Sea Marsh and the Ocean course located in Sea Pines. The Harbortown location is amazing you can walk to the marina, shop, people and yacht watch, catch a quick snack or beverage.

You are entitled to two hours a day at the Sea Pines Racquet Club right across the street. We definitely took advantage of that as well, the courts we played were clay, very forgiving to the joints.

There are very reasonable bike rentals right on property. Sea Pines has incredible bike trails. We certainly enjoyed riding our bikes to the beach daily, (after golf) and riding up and down the beach later in the day, it was so peaceful and relaxing. At the beach they have chair rentals, raft rentals a restaurant bar and nightly entertainment, very fun.

We would generally follow up a busy day heading back to the villa and enjoying dinner at many great locations. CQ's was terrific, Marley's was fine, Antonio's was marginal, we must have hit it on an off night. South Beach was great. There were many other places we wanted to try hopefully, we will return sometime soon.

Regarding planned activities, you received a recorded message daily from Monarch regarding the activities of the day for Marriott guests. For $5 you can participate for the week. The info was a little sketchy, partly because everything was off property. We didn't participate. Had there been more info or more visibility, maybe.

I would recommend Sea Pines to those who like variety. There is the Marina, right there, tennis right there, one golf course right there. The other courses are 5 minutes away, the Sea Pines beach is 5 minutes away or a 15 minute pleasant bike ride. South beach is about 7 minutes away or 20 minute bike ride.

I would give the resort a 9.5 for location and ease for participation in activities, golf and tennis.

We exchanged into Heritage Club through RCI - we were astounded to find it available online and jumped on it with both feet!

I can't add much to what has been said in previous reviews except to agree that the unit is well equipped, with a very nice layout (as represented by the floor plan available on this review page), in a very pleasant setting. The staff was helpful and responsive. The whirlpool spa down by the swimming pool was out of commission when we were there, apparently due to some underground leaks, but the repairs were in progress. All the noisy cement cutting work was done on OUR shift so you shouldn't be bothered with this in the future.

The golf package is unbelievable for exchangers. Free greens fees for two players, each of 6 days - only charge is for the required cart fee (currently $26/person/round). One of these rounds can be on Harbourtown and the rest on the Sea Pines Ocean and Marsh Ridge courses. Members of your party each receive a golf activities card - two of these are stamped "DU" (Designated User) to indicate the cards to get the free greens fees. Others in your party can play at a discount from the walk-in rates, but it's still pretty expensive. Marriott failed to stamp our cards with the DU and it caused some extra grief when checking in for golf, as they had to call Marriott to verify we were entitled to the free greens fees - we were able to get them stamped when the normal weekday staff showed up on Monday. So make sure you get those DU stamps!

We love Hilton Head and would gladly return to most of the places we've exchanged into. I know people love their Marriotts, but I didn't think the resort itself was any nicer than some of the others we've exchanged into (such as Port O Call and Southwinds II). But this golf package is truly exceptional!

The refurbishment went very well and the unit was in excellent condition with nice furnishings. Missed the famed green couch of recent past but learned to live without it. Still the number one spot to stay for golfers. Staff was excellent and well-informed.

We are Grande Ocean owners and traded into the Heritage via II - the trade confirmation took all of two days - we were amazed that we got into the Heritage so easily.

The Heritage is truly a first-class accomodation. Recently renovated and fully stocked, we had absolutely no complaints except for the shower maintenance - they need to do a better job controlling the mildew. But forget about that - we had a top floor unit (by request) with a great view! The free golfing that comes with the unit (except for cart fees) was awesome!! Played Harbortown (site of the PGA event every year), the Ocean and Sea Marsh courses. If you play everyday, the free golf value is at least $1200 in walk-up greens fees - not a bad deal.

Back to the accomodations. All the soft goods were new and pleasantly coordinated. The kitchen was chocked full of dishes, glasses, flatware, cutlery, etc. Every appliance and TV worked - they even provided a CD/AM/FM/Cassette stereo system. The unit was exceptionally clean (save for the shower stalls). The pool area is quiet, uncrowded (not at all like the GO's). No pool side bar, though, so bring your own. Few kids as this resort appeals mostly to adult golfers.

You won't go wrong staying at he Marriott Hertiage Club - best value in the timeshare world. Would rate this 9.9 outta 10!!!

Just returned from a lovely week at Heritage Club. We were very pleased that the units had been entirely re-done just a month before we arrived. It was beautifully furnished and decorated. Everything was new except the tile and fixtures in the bathrooms, which were still in good condition. I was pleased to see that there were 12 place settings of dishes and silverware in the kitchen. The unit was spotlessly clean when we arrived.

My husband loved the golf. He played every day for only a $25 cart fee. That was the biggest benefit. If it were not for the golf benefit, I probably would have chosen a larger HH Marriott for the kid's activities. Heritage is quite small, with no scheduled activities unless you want to go over to Monarch and participate in their's. Weather was quite warm, although pretty windy. Heritage Club has a great location that's within walking distance of Harbor Town, which was especially fun for the kids. My 2 year old daughter loved their playground.

This resort recently underwent a major renovation. The kitchen is brand new and beautiful, and the furnishings all appeared to be new except for the heavy wooden pieces. The couch, chairs, and beds are all very comfortable. Our unit was on the first floor next to the lobby and elevator. It was very quiet except for elevator noise in the am. It helped that the unit upstairs was unoccupied as they were working on it. Our only problem with our unit was that the seal under our commode leaked water onto our shower room floor. We showed it to one employee and told the activities girl, but no one came to fix it. The other thing we didnt like was the very poor water pressure in the shower which, together with the soft water, made showering a very slow process.

The jacuzzis in each bedroom were nice. The unit was not very clean, but since we have come to expect this, we didn't complain. I think it is very hard for Hilton Head to attract good cleaning people to come so far from affordable housing.

We were able to get in the seven free rounds of golf, playing the last one on our check out day, and staying overnite at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront(too noisy!!!). We were extremely lucky with the weather. They are not as rigid about the golf reservations and cancellation policy as it seems from the II material. I would still recommend reserving your round at HarborTowne at least two weeks in advance as they only have two or three slots available each day for the Heritage Club guests. You still have to pay $25 each for cart fees but on HHI that is an incredible deal, especially for an exchanger!!! Diane and Wilma, the Concierges at the Heritage desk are both extremely helpful and pleasant.

Ideal location in Sea Pines Plantation across the street from Harbour Town Golf Links and an easy walk to Harbour Town marina and shops. Heritage Club has a small number of units of high quality and wonderful size. Very comfortable for four people with 2 master suites and plenty of room. Units are quiet and nicely appointed. All units are being refurbished in January and February of 2002, one floor at a time. This will remove the only slight negative from the units which have some items that are in need of replacement (AKA the green couch).

Staff was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the season and overall quietness of the area. With refurbishment, Heritage Club will be among the very nicest of timeshares on Hilton Head Island.

Location is ideally situated for couples and those who enjoy golf or tennis. Families with children would probably enjoy another location better because of the small number of units and lack of recreational amenities and amusements as at other larger operations.

Weather during this week was warmer than usual and somewhat damp, but still allowed for a very nice visit, several rounds of golf and lots of touring. We much prefer early December at Hilton Head to other months because of the quiet time, fairly nice weather, lack of insects, lack of crowds, etc.

We look forward to our next visit and highly recommend this facility.

Just returned from Heritage Club. Can't say enough about the location, but want to mention to future guest - the sofa's are awful for sitting. It is a leather sleep/sofa unit and you can hardly stand to sit on the sleeper portion. I complained to the office about it - and they said they will be replacing them beginning January 2002. Golf package is great!!!

We just returned from a great vacation at the Heritage Club (first visit), Hilton Head Island. The Sea Pines Plantation area is a wonderful place to spend a week. Previous reviews have done a good job in most instances describing the resort and area. However, I must say (10 previous visits to the island) that we have always found everyone to be very friendly and helpful.

Inside the units are a bit dated and tired but are still very spacious and comfortable. Marriott and the other Hilton Head resorts have housekeeping(labor)problems and the units may not always pass the white glove test. However, we did not experience any significant problems. The 30 two-bedroom units overlook the pool with some having a slight view of the Harbour Town Marina. The pool was great and was never crowded. If there is a bar-b-cue grill we could not find it.

The marina was just a short walk and we enjoyed the nighly music and people watching at Quarterdeck. We also enjoyed eating at CQ's,Truffles and Harbour Town Deli(breakfast)located within Sea Pines.

This is the perfect golf resort (two free rounds a day - cart fee extra). I have stayed at several Marriott Vacation Clubs (6) and other resorts (3) over the last 6 years and this resort is closer to a 9.0 than a 5.0.

To see what Hilton Head is like in the Winter, my family spent Christmas week this year at the Heritage Club. My husband and I are not golfers but we enjoy being around golf courses, especially golf courses by the ocean. There is no better place than Hilton Head for being around golf and we wanted to experience "Marriott Quality" in our accomodation.

The Heritage Club is well positioned within the Sea Pines area on the Island. It is right in Harbour Town and only a few steps from very trendy shops and restaurants. The marina is adjacent with a beautiful old lighthouse that our two little kids (3 and 5) really enjoyed climbing. We certainly have no complaints about the location of the Heritage Club or about the Sea Pines area in general, even though it may be a bit "stuffy" to some.

It was great being in Hilton Head over Christmas. The places were well decorated for the holidays and nothing was crowded. There was no waiting to do anything. For example, when we played minigolf, we had the courses to ourselves. This was wonderful, especially with little ones who were just learning.

My family is not the picky type and we generally accept most things without complaint. However, when you go to a Marriott resort, there should not be complaints. They sell themselves on this. Despite the overwhelming positive reviews of Heritage Club by others, we were quite disappointed in our unit. The unit we stayed in was looking very tired and the lax housekeeping didn't help. The edges and corners of the carpet have obviously not seen a vacuum cleaner for a while. They also don't move the furniture when vacuuming, the kids found a wall plaque under the bedside table. The venetian blind at the entrance and the air vents could not pass a wipe test. The kitchen cabinets have seen better days. A bit of sanding and a new coat of varnish could have fixed it. While there was plenty of crockery, there were no saucers, cups had chips on the rim, plates were marked. The fridge was not level and the "above the stove" microwave was wobbly. The worst were the bathrooms. There was mold and scum, especially in the corners. The light fittings in the second bedroom was practically falling off the wall.

After a 12 hour drive, the first thing we wanted to do was jump under a shower. Unfortunately, all they gave us in the way of toiletries was one little bottle of shampoo, no soap. They also neglected to supply the unit with linen, blanket and pillows for the sofa bed. There was only one kitchen towel, no dish cloths or pot holders.

Considering that they've had a couple of off weeks and most of my complaints could be easily fixed, I couldn't rate it higher than 5. The only reason to stay at the Heritage is the free golf.

This is a small resort (30 units) within walking distance of the Harbour Town area. Interior of the unit is somewhat dated, especially in kitchen. (Had a problem with ants in kitchen and laundry) The Resort is ideal for couples interested in golf and tennis, which are included. All planned resort activities are off site at other Marriott Resorts. Pool is adequate for number of units and was usually quiet. Would give this resort a rating of 8.5.
